I'm driving along, I see the colours and the sun start to peak through the clouds and I know there's a shot to be had if I can get off this road, turn left and get up the hill a bit. I put my foot down and hurtle up the dirt road hoping to find a vantage point before the sun sinks behind the fields. I shoot this with seconds to go. As I'm standing there on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, just enjoying the open space and the quiet, a pickup truck comes along and he stops and we have a chat. It was an interesting conversation. He was a third generation farmer, curious as to what I was doing out there, and I'm a traveling photographer from Melbourne, curious as to what it was like to be a farmer out here. I hadn't talked to anyone in a while so it was nice.
