When I got back to Melbourne and I was looking at this image (shot from a helicopter) I thought to myself ‘Not a bad shot - I wonder if anyone living in those houses would like a print?’ The only way I could think of to let them all know it existed was to drop a flyer in each letterbox showing the image and the website details so they could order a print (and hopefully cover the cost of the helicopter). So that’s what I did, flew up in the morning, spent the whole day walking up and down every street in the shot stuffing letterboxes, flew back that night and sat back waiting for the orders to come rushing in. Not. A. Single. One. I’ve never considered myself a marketing genius but … come on, was it that bad of an idea? Obviously it was.
